Chamber News Release

West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce has given the thumbs up to two major projects set to create jobs in Wrexham.

Construction equipment manufacturer JCB are planning to recruit more than 300 people across its Wrexham, Staffordshire and Derbyshire factories for a new £31m engine development project between 2016 and 2021.

This follows the announcement that hoteliers Premier Inn have submitted a £6m planning application to Wrexham Council for a hotel creating 33 jobs in the town.

Richard Thomas, the Chamber’s vice chair for North Wales said: “Both announcements are fantastic news and an early Christmas present to the area following a year dominated by news of job cuts and losses.

“It’s fantastic to see companies of this size and calibre showing confidence in the region and its workforce; a definite positive message going into 2012 and the challenges the economy is expected to bring.”
